In "My Brilliant Career," Sybylla, an independent young girl growing up in early 20th-century Australia, tells her story. In order to keep her independence, Sybylla declines the chance to marry a wealthy young guy. She is forced to accept a position as a governess for a local family since her father owes them money. This well-known Australian author's first romance book is titled "My Brilliant Career." Her interesting protagonist, Sybylla Melvyn, who was based closely on Franklin herself, is a rebellious and vivacious creation. She was 21 years old and continued to live with her parents on their impoverished farm when copies arrived in Australia in September 1901. It accurately depicts the dialect and atmosphere of rural Australian life at the time. Many letters from young women who related to Sybylla's frustrations were sent to Franklin. My Brilliant Career's popularity did not make it any simpler for Franklin to publish in Australia. Neither did it make her wealthy. In her lifetime, Franklin published 19 books, including the moderately popular Up the Country and All That Swagger. Her most famous work is My Brilliant Career. When she passed away in 1954, she left a bequest of around £9,000 to start the illustrious literary award that bears her name.
