Harry Lincoln Sayler was born in 1863 in Little York, Ohio, United States, and died on May 31, 1913, in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. He was a newspaperman and novelist who wrote both under his own name and through multiple pseudonyms, including work as a ghostwriter for popular youth fiction series. Educated at DePauw University, he developed a writing style shaped by journalism, emphasizing clarity, momentum, and accessible storytelling. His fiction frequently focused on youthful adventure, technological curiosity, and exploration, reflecting the era’s fascination with progress and invention. In 1889, he married June Elliott of Shelbyville, Indiana, and they had two children. Alongside newspaper work, he produced numerous adventure narratives designed for younger readers, often blending imaginative settings with practical problem solving and moral resolve.
