About Author

Marion Zimmer Bradley

Marion Eleanor Zimmer Bradley (June 3, 1930 – September 25, 1999) was an American author of fantasy, historical fantasy, science fiction, and scientific fantasy novels, best known for The Mists of Avalon and the Darkover series. Her image has been tarnished posthumously by her daughter Moira Greyland's charges of child sexual abuse and for reportedly supporting her second husband, convicted child abuser Walter Breen, in sexually abusing several unrelated children. Bradley began writing when he was 17 years old and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hardin-Simmons University. In 1966, she co-founded the Association for Imaginative Anachronism. She also edited the long-running Sword and Sorceress anthology series. In 2000, she was posthumously honored with the World Fantasy Award for lifetime accomplishment. Her daughter Moira accused her of sexual assault in 2014, and Bradley was made aware of her second husband, Walter H. Breen,'s child molestation operations. In reaction to the allegations, Bradley's digital backlist publisher began donating all proceeds from her e-books to the charity Save the Children. Since then, several science fiction authors have publicly criticised Bradley.
