About the Book

The Mahatma and the hare: A dream story follows a fantastical narrative blending life, death, and reincarnation through surreal encounters between a mahatma and a hare. This late 19th-century tale explores existential questions as the hare recounts its suffering and memories of being hunted by humans. The story opens with reflective musings on mortality, symbolized by visions of the great white road and mysterious gates beyond. Through vivid storytelling, the hare describes the pain it endured in life, contrasting its former struggles with the peace it finds in a metaphysical realm. The mahatma serves as a guide in this spiritual journey, inviting the hare to confront its past and embrace the possibilities of transcendence. As the narrative unfolds, readers are drawn into philosophical reflections on cruelty, redemption, and the hope of liberation from suffering. The opening establishes a contemplative tone, setting the groundwork for a dreamlike exploration of compassion, forgiveness, and the search for meaning beyond earthly existence.
