About the Book

Bunyan characters: First series being lectures delivered In St. George’s Free Church Edinburgh examines the inner struggles and moral growth of individuals through a series of reflections on well-known figures from a classic spiritual narrative. The book explores how personal integrity and moral strength are shaped not by outward behavior, but by the intentions, choices, and convictions that arise within. It presents the idea that character is formed through constant decision making, where individuals must confront doubt, determination, hesitation, and the desire for transformation. Each reflection shows how human nature moves between resistance and progress, revealing how ordinary experiences can influence spiritual direction. The text suggests that persistence, self-awareness, and sincerity guide a person toward greater purpose. Rather than focusing solely on right or wrong, the work emphasizes the continual shaping of the inner self and how one’s journey reflects deeper values. The guide acts as both interpretation and invitation, encouraging readers to see moral growth as an ongoing path defined by reflection, discipline, and personal responsibility.
